Holy Cross College (HCC) Elementary Department successfully conducted its automated dry run for the upcoming PGO Elections scheduled on September 11, 2026, providing learners with an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the election process and experience a more efficient and technology-driven voting system.
The mock elections were successfully completed in less than two hours, demonstrating the readiness and efficiency of the election procedures. The activity also recorded an encouraging 80% or higher total voter turnout, reflecting the strong participation and enthusiasm of the elementary learners in the electoral process.
The automated mock elections were made possible through the assistance of the Management Information Systems (MIS) Office, which provided support for the development and implementation of the election system, as well as the automated canvassing of votes. The MIS Office also helped ensure that the system operated smoothly throughout the dry run.
Providing additional technical assistance were members of the Coders’ Society of the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) Program, who supported the technical operations and helped address system-related concerns during the activity.
The successful collaboration between the Elementary Department, MIS Office, and BSCS Coders’ Society highlights HCC’s commitment to utilizing technology to improve school processes while providing students with meaningful and practical learning experiences.
Beyond testing the technical and organizational aspects of the election, the dry run also served as an opportunity to introduce young HCCians to the values of responsible voting, participation, accountability, and democratic leadership. By allowing learners to actively experience the electoral process, the activity helps cultivate an early appreciation for the importance of making informed choices and exercising their right to vote.
The smooth completion of the dry run, coupled with the strong voter turnout, provides a positive indication of the Elementary Department’s preparedness for the actual PGO Elections on September 11, 2026.
The activity likewise demonstrates how collaboration across different departments and academic programs can contribute to a successful school-wide initiative, bringing together educational leadership, information technology, and student expertise toward a common goal.
