Holy Cross College (HCC) conducted an Earthquake Drill at 2:00 PM on September 10, 2026, in line with its continuing commitment to promoting disaster preparedness, emergency awareness, and the safety of the entire HCC community.
The activity was conducted in compliance to the initiative of the Civil Defense of the Philippines, reinforcing the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and disaster preparedness authorities in ensuring a safe and prepared community.
The drill provided students, faculty, and personnel with an opportunity to practice the proper procedures to observe before, during, and after an earthquake. Participants were reminded to remain calm, perform the “Drop, Cover, and Hold” procedure, and safely evacuate to designated assembly areas once conditions permitted.
The activity also served as a practical exercise in strengthening the coordination and emergency response capabilities of HCC’s different departments, offices, and personnel. Through the drill, participants were able to familiarize themselves with established safety protocols and understand the importance of acting quickly, calmly, and responsibly during an actual earthquake.
More than a routine exercise, the earthquake drill highlights HCC’s commitment to cultivating a culture of preparedness, vigilance, and safety among its students, faculty, and personnel. Regular disaster drills help equip the HCC community with the knowledge and confidence needed to respond appropriately during emergencies.
