On August 13, 2026, the Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BS Criminology) Program of Holy Cross College, Santa Rosa, Nueva Ecija, conducted a Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid Training at the HCC Gymnasiumfrom 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Carrying the theme, “Equipping Tomorrow’s Criminologists with Life-Saving Capabilities,” the training highlighted the importance of preparing future criminologists not only for law enforcement and public safety responsibilities but also for responding effectively during medical emergencies and critical incidents.

The activity featured a team of instructors with diverse backgrounds in emergency response, safety, search and rescue, and first aid. Charlie U. Lasar, an instructor with experience in safety and security operations, search and rescue, Incident Command System, emergency response, and ambulance operation management, shared valuable knowledge in emergency preparedness and response.

Also serving as instructors were Melissa B. Lancero, a Basic Life Support and First-Aid Provider with training in Collapse Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR) and Flood Response and Safety Training (FRST), and Raymark M. Abellila, a Basic Life Support and First-Aid Provider with Training of Trainers (TOT) and occupational safety and health training credentials.

The hands-on and skills-oriented training provided BS Criminology students with opportunities to develop practical competencies that can prove essential in real-world situations. For future criminologists, the ability to assess emergencies, provide immediate assistance, and respond calmly during critical situations complements their professional preparation in criminal justice and public safety.

The activity reflects Holy Cross College’s commitment to holistic and competency-based education. The institution emphasizes the development of students who are prepared not only academically but also equipped with practical skills and values needed to serve their communities.

Through initiatives such as this, HCC continues to strengthen the formation of future criminologists who are ready to respond, protect, and serve, with competence, compassion, and confidence.

From learning the law to saving lives, HCC’s future criminologists are being prepared for the realities of service.
