The Holy Cross College (HCC) community recently participated in the successful conduct of an earthquake drill as part of the First Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) led by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and under the supervision of the following Physical Education faculty, custodian and coordinators Mr. Abraham Legaspi, Mr. Alvin Glenn Busuego, Mr. Louie Castillo, Ms. Meah Mequiabas, Ms. Mary Rose Labrador, and Mr. Bonnie Asuncion and the BS. Criminology department headed by Mrs. Samantha Pisto. The activity aimed to strengthen disaster preparedness and promote awareness among students, faculty, and staff in responding to earthquake emergencies.

During the drill, members of the HCC community practiced the proper “Duck, Cover, and Hold” procedure, a vital safety response during seismic events. Once the simulated shaking stopped, participants calmly and systematically evacuated their respective classrooms and offices, proceeding to designated safe assembly areas within the campus.

The earthquake drill served as an important exercise to familiarize students with evacuation routes, safety protocols, and coordinated response during potential disasters. Faculty members and campus personnel also ensured that the evacuation process was organized and efficient, reinforcing the importance of discipline and cooperation in emergency situations.
By actively participating in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill, Holy Cross College reaffirmed its commitment to disaster risk reduction and the safety of its academic community. The initiative highlights the institution’s dedication to building a culture of preparedness, awareness, and resilience among HCCians.

Through continuous participation in programs spearheaded by the Office of Civil Defense, HCC ensures that its community remains vigilant, informed, and ready to respond in times of emergencies.
